The Washington Nationals will recall shortstop Trea Turner on Friday, reports William Ladson of MLB.com.

His callup comes as first baseman Ryan Zimmerman is scheduled to be placed on the paternity list, which a player can stay on for three days. Zimmerman’s wife is due to have the couple’s second child.

Turner is hitting .310 with five home runs and 24 RBIs in 50 games with Triple-A Syracuse this season. He has a .376 on-base percentage and is 17-17 on stolen base attempts.

Turner made his major league debut last August, hitting .225 in 27 games.

Report: Mets’ David Wright (neck) out for extended period

He is currently ranked as the ninth-best prospect in baseball, according to MLB.com.
