DENVER (AP) The San Diego Padres placed right-hander Andrew Cashner on the 15-day disabled list with a strained neck and recalled righty Erik Johnson from Single-A Lake Elsinore.

Johnson will make his Padres debut Saturday against Colorado after being acquired last weekend in a deal that sent righty James Shields to the Chicago White Sox.

The 26-year-old Johnson made two starts for the White Sox this season.

Cashner left the game Friday with upper back and neck tightness after throwing just six pitches. Manager Andy Green said Cashner was still sore Saturday morning, leading to the decision to put him on the DL.

Cashner, who was on the disabled list last month with a strained right hamstring, is 3-5 with a 4.75 ERA this season.
