The Chicago Cubs have placed centerfielder Dexter Fowler on the 15-day disabled list with a right hamstring injury, the team announced on Monday.

Fowler sustained the injury while running to first base during the first inning of Chicago’s 4–3 win over the Pirates on Saturday. He was replaced in center on Monday by rookie Albert Almora Jr.

The 30-year-old, who spurned the Orioles to re-sign in Chicago over the off-season, is hitting .290 with seven homers and 28 RBIs through 64 games this season.

In a corresponding move, Chicago recalled pitcher Carl Edward Jr. from Triple A.
