Stephen Strasburg has been scratched from his scheduled start against the Dodgers on Monday with an upper back strain, the team announced. Yusmeiro Petit will start in his place.

Strasburg, who was set to pitch against Clayton Kershaw, had remained healthy in 2016 after missing time in 2015 due to various injuries. He was moved from a start earlier in the month due to apparent calf discomfort, but made his next start.

The righthander has gone 10–0 in 14 starts to begin the season with a 2.90 ERA. Washington sits atop the National League East at 43–27, 5 1/2 games ahead of the Miami Marlins.
