TORONTO (AP) The Baltimore Orioles have signed former Reds right-hander Logan Ondrusek, who has returned from playing in Japan and gives the AL East leaders another option in their bullpen.

The 31-year-old Ondrusek went 21-11 with a 3.89 ERA and two saves in 281 games with Cincinnati from 2010 to 2014.

He spent the past two seasons in Japan with the Tokyo Yakult Swallows, going 8-3 with a 2.17 ERA and 11 saves in 102 games.

Ondrusek held left-handed batters to a .236 average while with Cincinnati. That success made him appealing to the Orioles, manager Buck Showalter said Friday.

In a statement, Orioles general manager Dan Duquette called Ondrusek ''a proven major league pitcher with good stuff.''

To make room on the roster, right-hander Chaz Roe was designated for assignment. A four-year veteran, Roe went 1-0 with a 3.72 ERA in nine games this season.
