Publish date:

It's a special edition of The Strike Zone podcast to recap one of the busier trade deadlines in recent memory, with SI contributing baseball writer Joe Sheehan joining Ted Keith and Stephen Cannella to run down all the day's wheeling and dealing.

After a morning and afternoon full of action, Joe, Ted and Steve revisit the deadline's biggest moves, both from Monday and in the past week, to see which teams did the best in either getting ready for the playoffs or in rebuilding for next year, and which teams should have done more. The three also give their takes on the most notable trades, including the Rangers' acquisitions of Jonathan Lucroy and Carlos Beltran; the Yankees' sales of Beltran, Andrew Miller and Aroldis Chapman; the Indians' all-in move with Miller; the Dodgers' attempt to fill out the rotation and outfield with Rich Hill and Josh Reddick; the Mets' curious move for Jay Bruce; and a number of other deals.
