Nationals’ Max Scherzer loses no-hitter in seventh inning
Max Scherzer’s no-hit bid against the Indians has ended after 6 1/3 innings pitched.
Francisco Lindor singled to center off Scherzer with one out in the seventh to become the Indians’ second baserunner.
Aiming for his third career no-hitter, Scherzer was helped in the field before eventually losing the no-no. Second baseman Daniel Murphy, playing over at first base on Tuesday, scooped a low throw from Scherzer in the fifth on a Jose Ramirez bunt attempt, and Ben Revere robbed catcher Roberto Perez of extra bases with a leaping catch at the wall in the sixth.
He has struck out 10 batters through seven. He would have been the sixth pitcher in history with three career no-hitters.
Scherzer allowed two runs to cross in the seventh, and the Nationals trailed 2–0 heading to the bottom of the frame.
