Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera left Monday's game against the Kansas City Royals with what the team called a strained left biceps, and is day-to-day.

Cabrera may have sustained the injury in the first inning when he ran into Royals infielder Cheslor Cuthbert, who was running out a groundball, at first base. He remained in the game, but left after flying out and experiencing discomfort.

The two-time MVP is batting .310 on the year with 27 home runs and 77 RBIs.

He was replaced in the field by Jarrod Saltalamacchia at first base.

The Tigers cannot afford any more injuries offensively, with outfielder Cameron Maybin and third baseman Nick Castellanos on the disabled list.
