Ex-Red Sox pitcher Schilling weighs run against Sen. Warren
BOSTON (AP) Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling says he's considering running against Massachusetts U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren in 2018.
Schilling called the Democratic senator ''a nightmare'' in an interview Monday on WRKO-AM. He says he'd like to be ''one of the people responsible'' for getting her out of politics. He says he has to clear the idea with his wife.
Schilling supports Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. He describes Warren as someone who has milked the system to her advantage, an apparent reference to her claims of Native American heritage.
In 2009, Schilling flirted with the idea of running for the Senate seat left vacant by the death of Democrat Edward Kennedy. He ultimately endorsed Republican Scott Brown, who won the election but lost two years later to Warren.
Warren often spars with Trump.
