Dodgers ace Kershaw to pitch in Class A rehab game Saturday

LOS ANGELES (AP) Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw is scheduled to pitch in a minor league rehab game for Class A Rancho Cucamonga on Saturday.

Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts said Friday that the left-hander will throw three innings or around 50 pitches, with lefty Brett Anderson to follow. Anderson is on the disabled list with a finger blister.

Kershaw has been sidelined for more than two months with a herniated disk in his back. He came out of a simulated game at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday in good order, tossing two innings. Kershaw was 11-2 with a 1.79 ERA before getting injured in late June.

The NL West leading-Dodgers have taken a conservative approach with Kershaw's comeback during a time when they are in dire need of replenishing the starting rotation. Joining Kershaw and Anderson on the DL are Hyun-Jin Ryu, Scott Kazmir, Brandon McCarthy and Alex Wood.

Ryu appears out for the season because of a left elbow injury, while Anderson, Kazmir and McCarthy are close to returning. Wood could be back in a bullpen role.
