Mariners' Walker through 6 hitless innings vs Angels

LOS ANGELES (AP) Seattle Mariners right-hander Taijuan Walker lost his no-hit bid Tuesday night with no outs in the seventh inning when the Angels' Kole Calhoun singled to right field.

Walker's perfect game attempt was spoiled when shortstop Ketel Marte committed a throwing error on Kaleb Cowart's grounder with two outs in the sixth. First baseman Dan Vogelbach failed to pick Marte's low throw out of the dirt.

Walker was perfect otherwise to that point. He had struck out seven through six innings, including five straight during one stretch.

Walker has struggled since being recalled from Triple-A Tacoma in late August, going 1-3 with a 7.23 ERA in four starts.

The 24-year-old has never thrown a no-hitter before.
