Blue Jays 2B Travis to miss second straight game

TORONTO (AP) Blue Jays second baseman Devon Travis is not in the lineup for Sunday's Game 3 of the AL Division Series against Texas and might need to be replaced on the roster if a bone bruise in his right knee does not heal quickly.

About an hour before the game, the Blue Jays said Travis would be available off the bench.

Manager John Gibbons said also said left-hander Francisco Liriano exited the ballpark several hours before the game because he wasn't feeling well. Liriano was removed from the roster after getting a concussion in Toronto's 5-3 win Friday.

Toronto leads the best-of-five series 2-0.

Darwin Barney is making his second consecutive start in place of Travis. Outfielder Ezequiel Carrera will lead off with Travis sidelined.

Liriano was struck in the back of the head by Carlos Gomez's line drive Friday. Liriano went to the hospital for tests before being cleared to fly home.

Right-hander Danny Barnes replaced Liriano on the roster. Liriano must sit for seven days, making him eligible for Game 2 of the ALCS if Toronto advances.

Gibbons said right-hander Joaquin Benoit, who tore his left calf running in from the bullpen during a bench-clearing scrap with the Yankees on Sept. 26, is ''making progress'' but is not close to a return.
