Dodgers extend $17.2M qualifying offers to Jansen, Turner

LOS ANGELES (AP) The Dodgers have extended $17.2 million qualifying offers to free agents Kenley Jansen and Justin Turner.

The team's other free agents - Brett Anderson, Joe Blanton, Jesse Chavez, J.P. Howell and Chase Utley - were not given qualifying offers on Monday.

Jansen and Turner have until next Monday to accept their one-year offers. Both are expected to receive multiyear offers on the open market as attractive free agents.

Jansen had a 1.89 ERA with a career-high 47 saves this season when he was a first-time All-Star. He earned $10.65 million. The closer has spent his entire seven-year career with Los Angeles.

Turner hit .275 with 27 home runs and 90 RBIs in a career-best 151 games for the NL West champions. The third baseman, who turns 32 this month, had a $5.1 million salary this season.

The qualifying offers guarantee the Dodgers would receive draft-pick compensation if either player signs with another team, which would forfeit a high selection.
