Seattle Mariners: Felix Hernandez

  • Author:
  • Publish date:

Felix Hernandez arrived in Seattle in 2005 as a 19-year-old phenom. A dozen years later King Felix stands as the best pitcher in franchise history, topping Mariners leaderboards in starts, innings, wins, strikeouts and ERA, among other categories. Each of his home starts at Safeco Field is made in front of his loyal King's Court supporters, in front of whom he delivered the best performance in team history, twirling a perfect game against the Rays on Aug. 15, 2012. A six-time All-Star and the 2010 AL Cy Young Award winner, Hernandez may already be slowing down at age 31 because of the heavy workload he has endured in the big leagues, but he still has two years remaining after this one on the $175 million contract extension he signed before the 2013 season, with the promise of more thrills to come.
