In a tight four-way race, one can make cases for Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre, Twins second baseman Brian Dozier and Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor here, but of that quartet, only Turner is outdoing a strong 2016 season. After qualifying for the batting title for the first time at age 31 last year, the raking redhead leads the NL batting race (.346) and is running second in on-base percentage (.432), fourth in OPS+ (163), seventh in WAR (4.8) and 10th in slugging percentage (.573)—a performance that made him a first-time All-Star last month.
