Well, at least he's honest.

The season hasn't started yet, and Anthony Rendon has continued to make some unfortunate headlines.

Rendon has caught much media attention over the last year, being called out for how he dealt with different injuries. But now, he isn't doing anything to endear himself to the Halos faithful.

The Angels' third baseman came under fire recently when he said that he views baseball as a job, not a priority. It's not the type of sentiment that anyone wants to hear from one of the highest-paid players on a team.

Rendon added to everything, saying that he doesn't really care about what people think about him. He noted that you can't make everyone happy.

“If they want to make me out to be a certain type of person because I want to see my family more, I mean, that's fine,” Rendon said. “They don’t know me. They just know the surface level. Everyone's gonna have their opinion, you can't make everybody happy.”

The problem for Rendon since he joined the Angels has been injuries. He hasn't been able to stay on the field, and it has hurt the team. But he is hopeful for a much more healthy and productive year.

“That's a great question because I feel the last few years I've been setting myself expectations, setting goals and I don't know if I’ve been jinxing myself or not,” Rendon said. “I'm just literally just trying to take it one day at a time. If I could survive one more day. I'm happy.”

2024 was supposed to be a "get-right" season for the veteran infielder, and while it still can be, he hasn't started the year off well. These comments aren't going to make him any more popular with the Angels, let alone the fanbase.
