Angels Free Agent Starting Pitching Target Signs With AL East Squad

Right-handed pitcher Marcus Stroman has agreed to a deal with the New York Yankees, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. Stroman was linked to the Angels this offseason as a potential landing spot, but winds up in New York.

Stroman's deal is for two years and $37 million with a third-year option, per Robert Murray of FanSided.

Stroman joins Teoscar Hernández and Shōta Imanaga as players the Angels were reportedly interested in but missed out on over the last week.

Last year, Stroman finished with a 10-9 record and a 3.95 ERA while striking out 119 batters.

After beginning the season strong, Stroman had a disappointing month of July that saw him put together a 9.11 ERA. He then missed the bulk of the second half of last season with a rib injury that kept him out all of August and most of September.

Stroman has been a name that has been in the mix with the Angels over the years. He and general manager Perry Minasian have a relationship that dates back to their time together in Toronto.

With Stroman officially off the board, the Angels are running out of starting pitching options to add to a roster that greatly needs the help. The Angels have been in the mix for current National League Cy Young winner Blake Snell, but nothing has materialized yet.
