There was finally a lot to smile about at Angels stadium on Wednesday as LA took home yet another win over the Oakland Athletics.

However, this time they were finally able to come away with the victory with ease like they should against one of the worst squads in the MLB thus far. Pitching was solid all-around, offensive production came in smoothly, and the Angels find their way above .500 once again.

Who Got The Ball Rolling on Both Ends?

Brent Rooker has been making noise this first month into the 2023 season and his performances as a rookie have been one of the lone bright spots of the A's. His grounder to centerfield in the first inning allowed Esteury Ruiz to come home and start Oakland at 1-0.

However, the Halos changed that to 4-1 in their favor the very next inning. Brandon Drury took care of business when he stepped up to the plate and doubled to right which brought Anthony Rendon home in the process.

Two more doubles from both Matt Thaiss and Zach Neto allowed three more of their runners to score as well.

How Did The Pitchers Hold Up?

Angels fans walked away from this game quite pleased with what they saw from their guys at the mound today. Patrick Sandoval took care of business per usual as he played through seven innings and only allowed three runs on six hits while striking out five batters.

He also showcased some of his best changeups yet.

LA also got to witness the newest member of the roster, Chase Silseth, make his 2023 debut with the clubhouse after he got bumped up from the minor league on Wednesday.

Silseth finished out the rest of the game for the Halos as their relief pitcher and he gave up no hits or runs while striking out two batters.

When Did LA's Home Run Party Start?

Hunter Renfroe did not have himself the greatest start to this season but it appears he is trying to flip that narrative as fast as possible. 

The third inning came around and he took Luis Medina deep for a home run that traveled 420 feet.

Brandon Drury then continued his ultra hot streak at the plate with a bomb of his own that extended the lead to 8-3. This was his second home in his last nine at-bats.

And finally... who other than Shohei Ohtani would watch all of this unfold and decided they want a piece of it themselves?

The 28-year-old stepped up to bat in the eighth inning and launched a fastball out of the park that brought Taylor Ward home with him. 

It was the cherry on top of a brilliant 11-3 victory.

When Will We See Our Halos Again?

The Angels face the A's for the final game in their series Thursday at 1:07 pm PT.
