Has Houston Astros Star Bregman Finally Turned A Corner After Disappointing Start?

In this story:

Critics need to give Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman a break.

First, Bregman almost always starts a season slow offensively, and he remains one of the best defensive corner infielders in baseball.

While at times he may have trouble producing runs, Bregman makes up for it by saving a ton of runs with his defensive speed, instincts and remarkable glove skills.

And now, he’s beginning to turn things around at the plate as well.

Over the past seven games, Bregman is slashing .310/.333/.379 with nine hits, five RBI, one walk and a stolen base.

On Saturday in Oakland, Bregman went 3-for-4 with one run scored and three RBI as the Astros beat the Athletics 6-3.

Is Bregman’s newfound form at the plate just what the Astros need to propel them into the American League West lead?

The Texas Rangers, of course, will need to begin losing some games in order for the Astros to gain any real ground, but wins are wins.

And Bregman is doing everything he can to help Houston rack up victories while he heats up offensively.

But the real question remains: Can Bregman keep it up?

Even over the last 15 games, Bregman has shown significant improvement and is slashing .288/.348/.441 over that time period.

While it's unclear whether or not Houston will be able to re-take the division, one thing is certain:

If Bregman keeps hitting the way he has over the past week, the Astros are bound to win way more games than they lose.
