In this story:

Houston Astros slugger Yordan Álvarez has been missed this spring in Grapefruit League action. His electricity and potential for fireworks every time he steps to the plate is a thing of beauty. The fans love it, his teammates feed off of it, and his contribution to the team is undeniable.

Álvarez has been dealing with inflammation in his hand, but there is no structural damage. While he has received multiple diagnoses, the issue still has yet to be resolved.

Yet, Houston remains optimistic. Speaking with the New York Post's Jon Heyman, Astros General Manager Dana Brown is optimistic on Álvarez's diagnosis.

“His hand is going to be fine. He’s going to start swinging the bat on Saturday and he’s going to have a bunch of time to get ready,” Brown said. “We’re optimistic about it. It just takes time.”

However, a timetable for return to game action was not given.

The Astros are rightfully taking a cautious approach to their slugger as they understand the impact he has on the entire roster when he is in the lineup.

In the end, it's good news on the injury front for the perennial MVP candidate.
