With at least one week under the belt of all the minor league ball clubs, it's time to take a closer look at the top-30 prospects for the Houston Astros and how they are fairing thus far in 2023.

Two of those prospects are currently on the Astros roster (No. 1 prospect Yainer Diaz and No. 29 prospect Corey Julks), along with a former top prospect who is now a full-time Major League starter in rookie Hunter Brown.

Beyond those three, along with three prospects in the rookie leagues that we'll discuss later, let's dive into Houston's minor league clubs and where they stand.

Triple-A (Sugar Land Space Cowboys)

The Space Cowboys own a 4-8 record in 2023 and play at Oklahoma City (10-3) on Saturday, April 15.

  • C Korey Lee (No. 6 prospect): batting .278 with one HR and four RBI.
  • OF/2B Pedro Leon (No. 7 prospect): batting .262 with one double, one HR and one RBI.
  • OF Justin Dirden (No. 8 prospect): batting .234 with two doubles, one triple, one HR and three RBI.
  • RHP Misael Tamarez (No. 12 prospect): 0-0 with a 4.91 ERA (7.1 innings pitched).
  • 3B/OF Joe Perez (No. 15 prospect): batting .158 with one HR and six RBI.
  • RHP Forrest Whitley (No. 20 prospect): 1-0 with a 1.13 ERA (8.0 innings pitched).

Double-A (Corpus Christi Hooks)

The Corpus Christi Hooks own a 2-5 record in 2023 and play at Amarillo (4-3) on Saturday, April 15.

  • OF Colin Barber (No. 4 prospect): batting .167 with one double and two RBI this season.
  • LHP Colton Gordon (No. 9 prospect): 0-1 with a 13.50 ERA (3.1 innings pitched).
  • RHP Spencer Arrighetti (No. 10 prospect): 0-1 with a 14.85 ERA (6.2 innings pitched).
  • INF Will Wagner (No. 13 prospect): batting .308 with one double, one HR and four RBI.
  • RHP Jaime Melendez (No. 14 prospect): 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA (5.0 innings pitched).
  • OF Quincy Hamilton (No. 23 prospect): batting .278 with three doubles and four RBI.
  • RHP Shawn Dubin (No. 24 prospect): 0-0 with a 2.25 ERA (8.0 innings pitched).

High-A (Asheville Tourists)

The Asheville Tourists own a 2-3 record in 2023 and play at Greenville (2-4) on Saturday, April 15.

  • OF Drew Gilbert (No. 2 prospect): batting .333 this season with one double.
  • OF Jacob Melton (No. 3 prospect): batting .304 this season with one stolen base.
  • RHP Miguel Ullola (No. 11 prospect): 0-1 with a 20.25 ERA (2.2 innings pitched).
  • OF/1B/2B Joey Loperfido (No. 17 prospect): batting .050 with one double and two RBI.
  • OF Kenedy Corona (No. 19 prospect): batting .350 with two HR and four RBI.
  • OF Logan Cerny (No. 21 prospect): batting .231 with one HR and three RBI.
  • RHP Edinson Batista (No. 25 prospect): 0-1 with a 9.82 ERA (3.2 innings pitched).
  • C/1B Miguel Palma (No. 30 prospect): batting .182 with one double.

Single-A (Fayetteville Woodpeckers)

The Fayetteville Woodpeckers own a 5-1 record in 2023 and face Fredericksburg (2-5) at home on Saturday, April 15.

  • OF Ryan Clifford (No. 5 prospect): batting .333 with one HR and five RBI.
  • RHP Andrew Taylor (No. 16 prospect): 0-0 with a 4.15 ERA (4.1 innings pitched).
  • RHP Michael Knorr (No. 26 prospect): 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA (4.0 innings pitched).
  • RHP Jose Fleury (No. 28 prospect): 0-0 with a 2.08 ERA (8.2 innings pitched).

In addition to the names mentioned above, Houston also has three prospects at the rookie level who have yet to compete in 2023, including outfielder Kenni Gomez (No. 18 prospect), outfielder Luis Baez (No. 19 prospect) and shortstop Camilo Diaz (No. 27 prospect).

All four of Houston's farm systems are playing this weekend, giving the Astros prospects further opportunities to develop as the season rolls on.
