The Houston Astros have announced that they have "paused" contract extension talks with two of their biggest stars in Kyle Tucker and Framber Valdez. According to the Houston Chronicle, Astros General Manager Dana Brown said that the talks had paused but could resume during or after the season.

Brown had given a timeline to these extension talks and it appears after not making much progress that they have now stopped. However, Brown did say that Jose Altuve's injury had forced him to pivot to other discussions and portions of the roster.

Extension talks during the season are not unheard of, especially for Brown who has made magic happen in the past with his players during his tenure with the Atlanta Braves.

Both Tucker and Valdez still have three years of team control, so there isn't a pressing need to get anything done imminently, other than for financial reasons for all parties involved.
