The Houston Astros are hoping to take advantage of a struggling San Francisco Giants squad after dropping the weekend series to the Philadelphia Phillies

The Astros have to get back on track and what better way than a three-game series against the Giants?

Here is all you need to know about the matchup, pitching and a series prediction!

Monday May 1, 2023 at 7:10 p.m. CT

Ross Stripling (0-1, 6.89) vs. Luis Garcia (2-2, 4.00)

Houston will trot out Garcia on Monday night. Garcia looked better in his last start and many believe he looks to be back on track.

Stripling on the other hand has had a real struggle this season. He has pitched in 15.2 innings over five appearances and has an enlarged ERA of 6.89. However, he has struck out 14 over that period.

The Astros should be able to get to Stripling and ignite their offense.

Tuesday May 2, 2023 at 7:10 p.m. CT

Anthony DeSclafani (2-1, 2.70) vs. Hunter Brown (2-0, 2.37)

The Giants will send DeSclafani to the mound, the pitcher who has been their most consistent this season. Houston will ask rookie Hunter Brown to take the bump after he has begun his season on the path towards the AL Rookie of the Year award.

It should be an interesting showdown, but if Brown turns in another stellar performance, this should be Houston's to lose.

Wednesday May 3, 2023 at 1:10 p.m. CT

Logan Webb (1-5, 4.10) vs. Framber Valdez (2-3, 2.54)

San Francisco will ask Webb to start on getaway day and face Astros ace Valdez. Webb has gotten a bit unlucky this season and he is a talented pitcher. However, Valdez has been downright dominate and should snuff out the Giants offense.

Houston must capitalize on this favorable matchup.

Series Prediction: The Houston Astros sweep the San Francisco Giants and outscore them by double digit runs over the course of the series. It should be a dominate performance from Houston over the course of the next three days.
