There is plenty of news coming out of the Houston Astros camp on Tuesday, let's try and get you all caught up.

For starters, outfielder Michael Brantley will indeed start the season on the injured list after there was some optimism he would be ready by Opening Day according to manager Dusty Baker.

The news on Brantley this spring has been scarce. Just last month he was taking practice swings with the bat, but after that it was radio silence. Brantley is recovering from shoulder surgery, but the hope when he signed was that he would be ready for Opening Day.

That is no longer the case.

Speaking of outfielders, Yordan Álvarez will play in his first Grapefruit League game on Thursday. He came into camp with a sore left hand.

Getting the slugger back would be a huge boost to the lineup as the Astros embark on their 2023 MLB campaign.

Much like Brantley, Álvarez was expected to make the Opening Day lineup and it appears, as long as everything stays on track, he will meet that expectation.
