Only Health Can Truly Slow Down Houston Astros This Season

In this story:
The Houston Astros are well positioned to repeat as World Series champions.
Their roster is stocked from top to bottom.
All-Stars are prevalent at a multitude of positions.
They have arguably the deepest pitching staff in all of Major League Baseball.
As we know, nothing is guaranteed in sports. Not even for a team which won 106 games and plowed through the postseason on its way to a six-game series victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in the World Series.
All-Star second baseman Jose Altuve will be out at least two months following a broken right thumb and subsequent surgery.
Lance McCullers Jr. will be sidelined for an unknown amount of time.
Other key players such as Yordan Alvarez, Michael Brantley and Kyle Tucker have been hampered by injuries through spring training.
Injuries are a part of baseball. Every team goes through its share of setbacks.
Look at the Astros’ roster and the fans shouldn’t fret. This team is loaded.
From Opening Day starter Framber Valdez to closer Ryan Pressly to shortstop Jeremy Pena to Alex Bregman to Tucker, etc … there’s simply not a weakness anywhere.
Now if the injuries continue to accumulate, no team is perfect.
Even without Altuve and McCullers Jr., the Astros are set up to win.
And win big.
In a way, they’re competing against themselves. Only injuries can hold them back.
