Welcome to The Show, Yainer Diaz.

Diaz, a rookie catcher for the Houston Astros, cranked his first home run of his young career on Sunday, May 12, crushing a 2-1 solo shot to push the Astros lead to 4-0 in the fourth inning against the White Sox.

Check out Diaz’s home run below!

So far this season, the 24-year-old Diaz has appeared in just 16 games for Houston, as Martin Maldonado carries a bulk of the load at the backstop.

In 44 at-bats Diaz is slashing .227/.260/.364 with four RBI and one home run.

But that’s only 16 games, and he’s played in just 22 Major League games ever — with his MLB debut occurring on Aug. 2, 2022.

Regardless of the limited playing time, this year’s Mother’s Day will be a Sunday Diaz won’t soon forget.

Diaz's Astros teammates giving him the silent treatment after his first homer was pretty priceless also.

Stay tuned to Inside the Astros for the latest news, scores and more as Houston concludes its three-game series with the White Sox this evening in Chicago.
