New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor is having a terrible offensive start to the 2024 season.

Atlanta Braves Line Up for Divisional Matchup Against Mets in Truist Park

The Atlanta Braves are looking forward to getting an old nemesis in Truist Park, especially while the New York Mets are still scuffling offensively

The Atlanta Braves feel almost unstoppable right now

Atlanta’s offense overcame two disastrous starts from the top of their rotation to sweep the defending NL-champion Arizona Diamondbacks in Truist Park over the weekend.

And now sitting in first place, the Braves get to further cement their place in the standings with a divisional matchup against the New York Mets, who come to Truist Park for four games starting tonight.  As we discussed in The Morning Meeting today, New York's offense still hasn't woken up yet, with several highly-paid hitters not yet producing: Francisco Lindor is rocking a team-worst .083 batting average (3-36), with Brandon Nimmo (.103), Jeff McNeil (.115), and Pete Alonso (.184) all right behind him.

Lineups for the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets on Monday, April 7th

Here's how Atlanta will line up for the contest:

RF Ronald Acuña Jr
2B Ozzie Albies
3B Austin Riley
1B Matt Olson
DH Marcell Ozuna
CF Michael Harris II
SS Orlando Arcia
C Travis d’Arnaud

Charlie Morton’s making his second start for the Braves this season, looking for more of the same as his season debut against the Chicago White Sox last week - 5.2 innings of three-hit, scoreless baseball with two walks to six strikeouts. He has a lot more experience against the New York Mets (13 starts), although no lineup regulars have been particularly effective against Morton, with some standout lines as Francisco Lindor's batting .146 (41 ABs), Brandon Nimmo's batting .167 (24 ABs), and Jeff McNeil's batting .200 (25 ABs).

Here's New York’s lineup today:

CF Brandon Nimmo
SS Francisco Lindor
1B Pete Alonso
C Francisco Alvarez
3B Brett Baty
RF Starling Marte
DH DJ Stewart
LF Jeff McNeil
2B Joey Wendle

The Braves welcome old friend Julio Teheran back to Truist Park for this one; Teheran spent eight years as a Braves starter (2011-2019) and has faced Atlanta twice since leaving, both last season as a member of the Milwaukee Brewers. The Braves absolutely rocked him in the second start, on July 29th, tagging Teheran for nine runs on eleven hits in just five innings of a 11-5 victory in Truist Park.
