Braves Briefing: Charlie Morton becomes key for the Atlanta Braves

Charlie Morton did exactly what the Atlanta Braves needed him to do Tuesday night. With questions circulating around other Braves pitchers Max Fried and Kyle Wright, Morton showed that he could be a key part of the rotation until Atlanta gets healthy later in the season.
His seven-strikeout, 6.0 inning outing helped the Braves earn a 9-3 win over the Boston Red Sox Tuesday night.
Adversity has been a theme that has circled this team during the early parts of the 2023 MLB season. Morton believes that this team is able to bounce back because they can rally around one another.
“Ever since I’ve been here, this group has been able to rally around each other," Morton said after the win. “That’s under a lot of circumstances. Whether it’s consecutive losses, struggling to find momentum, injuries or personal issues, these guys are great. I think that’s why we’re such a good team. So I wouldn’t have expected it any other way.”
Morton is 4-3 on the year with a 3.32 ERA. He has 39 strikeouts in his 40.2 innings pitched.

We wrote it
Orlando Arcia has picked up where he left off before missing some time due to an injury. He's been great. Will Moon wrote this in our takeaways from Tuesday's win.
Who knows how long this ride will last, but Arcia has just been a steadying presence for the Braves at a crucial position. He's hitting far better and more consistently than he ever did in Milwaukee, where he was once considered a possible franchise building block before his struggles with the bat derailed those dreams. The work at the plate may drop off - though Braves hitting coach Kevin Seitzer has worked wonders in years past with veteran hitters - but the key thing Arcia brings is steady defense.

How to watch the Atlanta Braves vs the Boston Red Sox
The Braves wrap up this short two-game series with the Red Sox Wednesday night. Brayan Bello gets the start for Boston, while the Braves appear to be going with a bullpen game - Brian Snitker indicated as much in his postgame presser. No word as of yet on who will take the ball initially for Atlanta, but there are plenty of options. First pitch at Truist Park is again set for 7:20 ET, and the telecast with Voice of the Braves Brandon Gaudin is available on Bally Sports South. The radio call, with Ben Ingram, is available locally on WIFN 1340 AM/103.7FM or outside the Atlanta market on the Atlanta Braves Radio Network or MLB.com.
