Here's a look around MLB from an Atlanta Braves perspective.

The Atlanta Braves fell to the Baltimore Orioles 9-4 and Max Fried picked up his first loss of the 2023 season.

Interestingly enough, the Orioles are perfect on the season in series-opening games. The Braves registered 11 hits but was not enough to keep up with Baltimore's 12 hits and three home runs.

Atlanta Braves select two-way player in latest MLB Mock Draft

MLB.com's Jim Callis wrote a first-round mock draft on the MLB's website.

With the 24th pick, Callis has the Atlanta Braves selecting Bryce Eldridge, a first baseball and RHP from Madison high school in Vienna, Virginia.

Here was his analysis:

A legitimate two-way prospect, Eldridge almost certainly will get drafted as a hitter because he has huge left-handed power and elicits comparisons to 2022 Yankees first-rounder Spencer Jones.

We wrote it

Braves Today writer and Locked On Braves host Jake Mastroianni handled our takeaways from the action last night. Here's what he wrote about Fried's performance.

As far as the pitching side of things goes, it was a pretty solid night for Max Fried -- especially through the first 6 innings.
He was dealing early and finished with 20 whiffs and an average exit velocity against of 83.3 MPH. And entering the seventh inning, he had only allowed two runs.
But what will be eating at Fried until his next start are the two errors he made -- both throwing errors.
The first one was on a pick-off attempt that led to an unearned run.
Another came in a disastrous seventh inning that helped the Orioles put seven runs on the board and essentially put the game away.

What's next?

The Braves and Orioles will do it again on Saturday and Spencer Strider will look to even up the series going against Kyle Bradish. Tomorrow's game two is a 7:10 ET first pitch. The game will be a national broadcast on FOX. The radio call, with Ben Ingram, is available locally on WIFN 1340 AM/103.7FM or outside the Atlanta market on the Atlanta Braves Radio Network or MLB.com.
