The Atlanta Braves go for the series sweep behind last year's MLB wins leader, Kyle Wright

The Braves are on a hot streak.

After being swept at home by the Houston Astros, with the bats being held mostly in check and the bullpen getting rocked, the Braves have taken their frustrations out on the Miami Marlins. Winning three straight games, they've scored twenty-four runs while allowing only eight. They're batting .301/.385/.670 in the series, with ten homeruns, sixteen total extra base hits, and have a team ERA of 2.67 for the series.

The series victory has brought the Braves to a winning record in Truist Park, sitting at 7-6 on the season.

Lineup

Here's how Atlanta will line up for today's series finale:

Sean Murphy moves to DH for the day game series finale, batting fifth (with Ozzie Albies above him). Sam Hilliard gets the day off, with Eddie Rosario in left field and Kevin Pillar shifting over to centerfield and batting 8th.

Fun fact: This is a unique lineup! We haven't seen this specific configuration yet this season.

Pitching Matchup

Starting for the Braves is Kyle Wright. He's 2-2 in his career against the Marlins, with a 3.75 ERA and twenty-six strikeouts to thirteen walks in twenty-four career innings dating back to 2019. But last year, when he led all of Major League Baseball with 21 wins, he was virtually untouchable: 2-0, 0.00 ERA in eleven innings over two starts, with six hits to seventeen strikeouts. He allowed a total of eleven baserunners (six hits, four walks, and a hit batter).

Opposing Atlanta is Braxton Garrett. The Marlins lefty is 1-0 on the 2023 season, with a 2.84 ERA in four games (three starts). He's done okay against Atlanta in his career, with a record of 0-2 but only a 3.29 ERA and eleven strikeouts across 13.2 innings in his three starts. He gave up no homeruns in any of the three starts, and some prominent Braves have not had success against him: Matt Olson is hitless in six at-bats, and Austin Riley is hitless in four at-bats.
