Lineup, how to watch the Braves close the series with the Red Sox on Wednesday

The Braves are trying to sweep the short series and are using a bullpen game to do it

It's been a weird week.

The Atlanta Braves swept the Marlins on the road last week, lost Kyle Wright in the process, narrowly won the series against a surging Orioles squad, lost Max Fried in the process, and are now wrapping up a short two-game midweek series with Boston before heading to Canada to take on the Toronto Blue Jays.

Tonight's going to be even weirder: There's not a starter.

Yep, it's a bullpen game - with an off day on Monday, the addition of reliever Danny Young in Fried's roster spot, and an off day tomorrow, it's all hands on deck out of the armbarn to replace the production Atlanta would have gotten from it's scheduled starter, Max Fried, or any pitcher called up from AAA Gwinnett to replace him.

Expect heavier usage out of Joe Jimenez and Nick Anderson - neither pitcher has thrown since the weekend, with Jimenez last throwing 17 pitches on Friday night and Anderson throwing 19 on Saturday.

Lineup

Here's how the Braves will line up for the series finale:

Atlanta's finally got Sean Murphy and Travis d'Arnaud in the same lineup, Murphy at DH while d'Arnaud is behind the plate. This pushes Marcell Ozuna to the bench, with Eddie Rosario playing left field and batting in his now-usual 5th spot behind Murphy.

Pitching Matchup

Today's "starter" - probably more accurate to call them an opener - is Dylan Lee. As the above chart shows, he hasn't pitched since Friday, and only has 25 pitches over the last five days so he theoretically can give you a few innings today. His career high outing is 2.2 innings, in May of 2022 against the Phillies, with no hits or runs, one walk, and two strikeouts in 28 pitches. On the season, Lee has 17 appearances (all in relief) and a 2.81 ERA in 16 innings, with 19 strikeouts to 5 walks.

Starting for the Red Sox is Brayan Bello. The young righty was a 2016 international free agent out of the Dominican Republic and debuted in 2022, to limited success: a 2-8 record and a 4.71 ERA in 13 appearances (11 starts). This season, he's 1-1 in four starts with a 5.71 ERA and 19 strikeouts to 6 walks in 17.1 innings. He's never faced Atlanta, and no current Braves hitter has an at-bat against him.

How to Watch

First pitch at Truist Park is set for 7:20 ET, and the telecast with Voice of the Braves Brandon Gaudin is available on Bally Sports South. The radio call, with Ben Ingram, is available locally on WIFN 1340 AM/103.7FM or outside the Atlanta market on the Atlanta Braves Radio Network or MLB.com.
