The Braves were able to sweep the Cincinnati Reds behind some clutch hits and a solid night of pitching.

This win gives the Braves a 9-4 record as they prepare to head to Kansas City to take on the Royals.

What can we take away from the Braves 5-4 victory over the Reds?

A.J. Minter looked dominant to pick up his second save

With Raisel Iglesias starting the season on the IL, A.J. Minter has gotten the nod to try and close out ball games. He was given this opportunity against the Reds, coming in with a 5-4 lead in the top of the ninth. He got three quick outs, including a strikeout, to collect his second save of the year. Minter threw 13 pitches, with nine of them being strikes. The southpaw looks to be in line for another dominant year coming out of the pen for the Braves.

Eddie Rosario and Ronald Acuña Jr. both had clutch hits

Eddie Rosario and Ronald Acuña Jr. both had big hits helping the Braves finish off the sweep of the Reds. Acuña Jr. slapped a two-out single with the bases loaded to tie the game in the second, then had another RBI single to tie the game in the seventh. Rosario hit a go-ahead homer in the eighth, which ended up being the deciding run. These were some clutch plays by some of the staple bats in this lineup. If the Braves want to repeat as NL East champs, they will need a lot of this from these two throughout the 2023 season.

Orlando Arcia hurt his wrist

Orlando Arcia took a 98mph fastball off the wrist in this ball game and later exited the contest. The word from the Braves official social media pages was that the X-rays were negative, which is a good sign, but things like bone bruises can lead to IL stints. With the injuries the Braves have already sustained this season, losing Arcia would be tragic. Hopefully, Arcia avoids the IL, but we will find out soon enough how he is feeling and if there is any swelling.

Marcell Ozuna's struggles continue

Marcell Ozuna put up another 0-4 night that included three strikeouts. He looks lost at the plate. The former All-Star has had an abysmal start to his season, and there are no signs of that changing. The unfortunate news is with all of the injuries the Braves have sustained early in the season will continue to keep the veteran in the lineup. If Ozuna wants to turn this season around, it's going to have to happen sooner than later. Before Ozuna gets out of this slump, he will need to first make consistent contact then, some hard contact. That will be the only way out of this early-season slide.
