The St. Louis Cardinals already have been extremely busy this offseason and they have plenty of work to do still.

St. Louis has added three starting pitchers this offseason but still has to improve other areas of the club. The bullpen is the team's next big area to improve this offseason. St. Louis' bullpen struggled last year so it needs to add at least one or two high-level relievers.

It's unclear who they will target, but it has been rumored that the club could look to trade outfielder Tyler O'Neill for bullpen help. There has been plenty of speculation for a possible deal involving O'Neill and two teams that reportedly are interested in him are the Kansas City Royals and Seattle Mariners, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Derrick Goold.

"The Cardinals have, according to sources, targeted a return they want for O’Neill and stuck to it so far," Goold said. "Among the teams believed to have interest are Kansas City and Seattle, and there are other unidentified clubs looking for offense who have talked to the Cardinals. The Cardinals have had ongoing meetings with representatives for free-agent relievers and, in some cases, signaled trading O’Neill will give them clarity on what they can spend or what they need in these free-agent moves. The Cardinals want to add two relievers their bullpen options."

St. Louis has been busy so far this offseason but still needs to improve if it wants to make it back to the postseason next year. The Cardinals had one of the worst seasons in team history last year and need to make major changes. They already have done so in the starting rotation but now the bullpen needs to be addressed.
