The Chicago Cubs currently sit nine games under .500 and the likelihood that they end up as sellers at the MLB trade deadline only grows.

If that is the case, they have a plethora of talent that they can move, some of which would not affect them long term.

One of those pieces is left-handed outfielder Cody Bellinger who currently sits on the injured list.

A recent MLB Trade Rumors column linked Bellinger to the Houston Astros as a potential fit.

Astros general manager Dana Brown went on the radio this past weekend and stated that the team would try and pursue a versatile left-handed bat at the deadline.

Bellinger plays both the outfield and first base, two areas that Houston could use some help in.

Left fielder Yordan Alvarez is currently on an extended stay on the injured list, so extra cover in left field is needed. Additionally, first baseman Jose Abreu is having an abysmal season at the plate and providing extra firepower is at the forefront of their wish list.

Bellinger fits the bill in both instances.

Bellinger is on a one-year, $17.5 million deal with Chicago and he will likely look for more in free agency after the season. There figures to be plenty of suitors as the slugger has already compiled a .271/.337/.493 slashline this season.

The Cubs could move him for a significant haul to help propel their "re-tool."

It's a fit that makes sense for both sides as the trade deadline draws near.
