Rangers Manager Bochy Shares Candid Thoughts on Cody Bellinger

Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy shared his candid thoughts on Chicago Cubs outfielder Cody Bellinger ahead of Friday's game.

CHICAGO - Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy spent plenty of time watching Chicago Cubs outfielder Cody Bellinger while Bochy was with the San Francisco Giants and Bellinger played for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

That type of familiarity is hard to find. Now, both find themselves with different organizations but once again met on the baseball field.

Ahead of Friday's game while sitting in the visitor's dugout, Bochy was asked about his thoughts on Bellinger, his rise, his fall, his potential comeback. The veteran manager gave an upfront answer.

"Well I'll just say, I saw him a lot being in the same division," Bochy said. He's a great player. Tremendous athlete, he can run, throw, really good first baseman. Really good outfielder. He can hit. He did a lot of damage against. I'll leave it at that because I've been out for three years.

"I think we are looking at a guy with really special tools. That's all I can go with right now."

Bellinger is beginning to re-find himself and what has made him so special. Friday he knocked in another run in the fourth inning against the Rangers when he singled to right field.

If he continues to produce the way he has this season, his $17.5 million contract may start to look like a bargain.
