Chicago Cubs Bounce Back Sunday, Take Incredible Series Against Dodgers

In this story:
The Chicago Cubs have won a series against the Los Angeles Dodgers after a grinding but brilliant team effort on Sunday afternoon in a 3-2 win.
Hard to imagine writing that sentence even a few months ago.
But here we are!
Cubs starter Drew Smyly took the mound for his team and faced off of against Dodgers ace Julio Urias. He stepped up and rose to the occasion.
In 5.2 innings of work, Smyly allowed just one earned run against a very talented Los Angeles lineup. It was his best work of the season to this point.
The bullpen then came in and delivered an encouraging performance by allowing just a single run through the next 3.1 innings. It came in the seventh inning when Adbert Alzolay struggled and allowed an RBI-single to Mookie Betts.
Mark Leiter Jr. looked brilliant in his appearance in the seventh inning when he struck out two batters to end the inning.
Chicago's offense stepped up and tied the game 1-1 in the fifth when Luis Torrens notched an RBI-single off of Urias to score Bellinger.
Then things got exciting.
In the seventh inning, Patrick Wisdom hit a solo home run to take the lead. It was his third game in a row with a homer and his sixth on the season. The very next at-bat Bellinger put one in the right field stands to make it a 3-2 game.
Michael Fulmer got his redemption on Sunday after blowing a save and allowing a David Peralta walk-off RBI-single by pitching a perfect eighth inning.
Fulmer was given the chance to start the ninth, but Dodgers manager Dave Roberts decided to place Peralta in to face Fulmer and Cubs manager David Ross made the call to the 'pen.
Brad Boxberger was given the chance to preserve a one-run lead on Sunday in a save situation and he came up big, retiring the Dodgers and securing the win.
Chicago will travel and face the Oakland Atheltic's for the first of a three-game series on Monday. Hayden Wesneski is scheduled to make the start. First pitch is slated for 8:40 p.m. CT.
