The Chicago Cubs (9-6) looked absolutely brilliant in a 10-1 victory over the Oakland Athletics (3-14) on Monday evening. They are coming off of a series win against the Los Angeles Dodgers and appeared to not miss a beat.

Wesneski looked dominate in a 7.0 inning start in which he allowed just one earned run. Yes, it was against the struggling Athletics, but it was good to see him turn in a quality performance, something he has been searching for to start the year.

The bullpen then shut the door the final two innings and didn't allow a single hit.

The offense was on full display as Patrick Wisdom continued his torrid tear at the plate. In the second inning, Wisdom got the scoring started with a solo home run to left-center field that travelled 428 feet and came off the bat at a scorching 109.6-mph.

Chicago got five more runs in the fourth inning by simply moving the runners and passing the baton. RBI-singles from Yan Gomes, Nico Hoerner, and Seiya Suzuki propelled the Cubs to a strong inning.

The eighth inning was punctuated by yet another Patrick Wisdom home run, this time a three-run shot to center that made it 10-1.

It was an excellent performance that saw every player do their job on the mound, on the field and at the plate. A true team win.

While he didn't record an RBI or hit a home run, a special mention must be made about Cody Bellinger who went 5-for-5 with a double at the plate on Monday. He truly looks to be "back" and Chicago could be in for an incredible season if Bellinger continues his hot tear.

The Cubs will be back in action on Tuesday night as they look to extend their winning streak. First pitch is scheduled for 8:40 p.m. CT at the Oakland Coliseum.
