Cubs Players 'Really Like' Their Position as Wild Card Chase Continues

In this story:
There may not have been concern expressed from the locker room, but with the Chicago Cubs playing their worst baseball down the final stretch of the season and falling out of the playoff standings, the team had to feel some pressure.
After losing their penultimate home series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, they went into their final home slate against the Colorado Rockies knowing those were must win games.
The Cubs were able to deliver, sweeping the Rockies and putting themselves back into the playoffs, sitting a game up on the Miami Marlins entering Monday.
"I think we really like our position and where we're at right now," slugger Patrick Wisdom said after the game.
It will be a tough finish to the season on paper. They travel to the National League's best Atlanta Braves for a three-game slate before finishing the season on the road against the NL Central leading Milwaukee Brewers.
On the other hand though, motivation for the Braves might not be there since they've already won the NL East division, clinched a bye into the NLDS round and likely will have home field advantage throughout the NL playoffs.
Regardless of what they're opponents are doing, it's up to Chicago to keep this momentum going to make the postseason.
"We're in a position where, if we're able to take care of our own business, I think we're in a really good spot. That's how we look at it as a team," rookie pitcher Jordan Wicks told Jordan Bastian of MLB.com.
As it stands right now, their primary competition are the Marlins, who are sitting one game back. The Cincinnati Reds are two-and-a-half games back with the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants trailing by five games.
Miami finishes their season on the road as well, but they face the sub .500 New York Mets and Pirates who have been eliminated from playoff contention.
The Cubs need to make a big statement in their series against Atlanta to ensure they make the 2023 MLB Postseason.
