Three Chicago Cubs Named Gold Glove Finalists

Three Chicago Cubs are finalists for a Gold Glove at their respective positions after initial National League selections.
The awards will be handed out in November.
The Cubs finalists include second baseman Nico Hoerner, shortstop Dansby Swanson and left fielder Ian Happ.
Swanson joined the Cubs this offseason as a free agent and won a Gold Glove at shortstop last season with Atlanta.
Swanson played 147 games at shortstop for the Cubs, finishing with a .981 fielding percentage, along with 382 assists and 11 errors. He also turned 72 double plays, most of which were with Hoerner.
Swanson is a finalist along with the New York Mets’ Francisco Lindor and the Colorado Rockies’ Ezequiel Tovar.
Hoerner played 133 games at shortstop last season and was a finalist at second base in 2020 before sliding back to second to make room for Swanson. He played 135 games at second base this season, finishing with a .988 fielding percentage, with 363 assists and seven errors. He also turned 78 double plays.
The other finalists at second base are San Diego’s Ha-Seong Kim and Philadelphia’s Bryson Stott.
Happ won a Gold Glove last season. Happ played 154 games at left field this season, as he finished with a .989 fielding percentage. He had 12 outfield assists and was charged with just three errors.
The other finalists in left field are the Los Angeles Dodgers’ David Peralta and Atlanta’s Eddie Rosario.
