The Diamondbacks announced a series of roster moves ahead of a three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

  • Selected the contract of OF Dominic Canzone from Triple-A Reno
  • Recalled RHP Justin Martinez from Reno
  • Placed RHP Drey Jameson on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation
  • Optioned OF Dominic Fletcher to Reno
  • Designated LHP Konnor Pilkington for assignment

Canzone, 25, was named the organization's Minor League Player for the Month of June. In 71 games with Reno, Canzone is batting .354 with 16 home runs and a 1.065 OPS. He scalding the ball in the month of June, in which he batted .430 with five home runs and a 1.237 OPS.

Jameson, 25, was checked out by trainers in the sixth inning in last night's game. After the game, D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said that the young right-hander was cramping in his right wrist. However it appears a more serious injury has developed in his right arm. In 15 games this year, 12 in relief, Jameson is 3-1 with a 3.32 ERA and a 37/18 strikeout to walk ratio over 40 2/3 innings.

Martinez, 21, was originally promoted on June 27th, but did not appear in a game before getting optioned to the minors. Since he is replacing an injured player, the 15-day minimum on the optional assignment is waved off. Martinez is one of Arizona's top prospects due to a high velocity fastball and a plus grade splitter.

Pilkington, 25, was acquired by the D-backs on May 1st as their rotation depth started dwindling. He was optioned to Reno, where he made 11 starts. Pilkington was 2-3 with a 9.53 ERA and a 51/44 strikeout to walk ratio. Arizona has seven days to either trade, release, or place him on waivers.

Fletcher, 25, was recalled on June 30th after Corbin Carroll had his first injury scare with the right shoulder in the past week. He appeared in six games, four starts, going 4-for-15 with two walks and an RBI single. On the season, he is batting .301 with a .751 OPS in his first 28 MLB games.
