Gabriel Moreno and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. have been crucial players on this upstart and surprising Arizona Diamondbacks team. One could confidently say that if they didn't have either of them, especially Moreno, then the D-backs wouldn't find themselves in the NLCS and playing against the Philadelphia Phillies for a chance to go to the World Series. Moreno and Gurriel Jr were both acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays last December in the Daulton Varsho trade. The D-backs received an All-Star season out of Gurriel Jr. and Moreno has established himself as one of the best young catchers in the MLB. He's now their franchise catcher.

The two players spoke with the media ahead of the D-backs Game 3 against the Phillies. The D-backs are down 2-0 in the NLCS but are back home where they could rally to make it two games to one and reawaken this series.

In case you missed it, Gabriel Moreno was named a finalist for the Gold Glove this year at catcher and is a favorite to win it. When asked how that feels, he said "It's part of these accolades -- it's part of our routines, right? We work. We live for this. So the fact that I am just a finalist for this, it's something great."

Moreno touched on the fact that the D-backs have battled back from bad losses before, after they lost 10-0 in Game 2, and that he thinks the "ups and downs are part of the game, and it comes with the business. I believe in each one of my guys, including myself, and I believe that there's going to be better results coming up. All we can do is control what we can control."

Gurriel Jr spoke about how he "erase[d] from your brain and execute your plan for the next day" as to how he got over losing by ten runs to the Phillies. Moreno said that "there's a new series being back at home, and it's going to  be on."

As for what the two of them think the D-backs will do in Game 3 or if they might treat it differently or urgently in a push to win and get back in the series, Moreno said "First of all, I just trust in my team. They're a professional team like we are too. We just have to stay within our plan and trust in our guys."

Gurriel Jr. added on by saying "at this point, the four best teams are the ones standing. Anything could happen in one of these games, and we're just going to execute their plan."
