Torey Lovullo addressed the media in the tunnel behind the locker room in Angels Stadium to give some last minute updates

Corbin Carroll's availability

Carroll has been day to day with a sore shoulder

"I saw him take batting practice, he's still taking some swings down in the cage right now. We'll continue to say it's day to day. As of right now I'll consider him available for the game at some point. You guys will see how that materializes. The swings that I saw him take were good, he was testing it and everything felt as good as it possibly could. It's every encouraging. The fact that he's down in the cage taking some more swings is even more encouraging for me."

Merrill Kelly Update

The veteran right hander is recovering from a blood clot in his left calf. He  threw a 31 pitch bullpen today and said he felt good. Lovullo said that at this point in time he did not think Kelly would pitch in the Toronto series coming right out of the All Star Break  break but expects it to be very soon after. In discussing whether or not Kelly would go on a rehab assignment, he alluded to the fact that many of the affiliates are off as well at that time and they're trying to be mindful of travel and where he's at as far as his comfort.

Rotation Plans

Lovullo sat down with Zac Gallen in his office today to discuss rotation options. Talking aboutt later in the week rotation options Lovullo said he wanted to get Gallen's comfort level with pitching in a day game vs. a night game. If Gallen were to stay on four days rest after his start tomorrow afternoon against the Angels then his next outing would be Friday July 7th at home vs. the Pirates at 6:40 P.M.  It's possible however that Gallen will be pushed to the day game on Saturday, the 8th, 1:10 P.M. start.  With Brandon Pfaadt sent down to the minors and Kelly on the IL he team will need to either call up another pitcher from Reno or go with bullpen game at some point next week.
