Diamondbacks Minor League Report: April 25, 2023

The Diamondbacks minor league affiliates combined for a 1-3 record. Here are some notable prospect performances from last night.

Triple-A Reno

Bryce Jarvis made his Triple-A debut last night after getting promoted. The former first rounder allowed just one run in five innings despite having four walks and three strikeouts. Statcast had his fastball averaging 93-96 MPH. He used his slider and changeup to induce weak contact, with the two pitches yielding an average exit velocity of 81.1 and 84.9 MPH. He left the game with a 2-1 lead, but had a no-decision after the bullpen couldn't hold the lead.

Dominic Fletcher had two more hits, including a go-ahead RBI double to the left center field gap in the fifth. The ball left the bat at 97.0 MPH on the double. Fletcher added a walk in the seventh and a swinging bunt down the first base line for a single after eluding first baseman J.J. Matijevic that started a four-run rally. He is 12 for his last 27 at the plate, which may be putting more pressure on Alek Thomas to perform at the plate.

Double-A Amarillo

Deyvison De Los Santos had two hits, including a solo home run on the first pitch of the bottom of the eighth that gave Amarillo the lead for good. He got a center-cut fastball from reliever Nick Starr and hit it deep into the Amarillo night, leaving the bat at 110 MPH.

Tristin English has been quietly putting together an impressive start to the season with Amarillo, batting .310 with five home runs a team-leading OPS of 1.169. His fifth homer of the season tied the game in the seventh, in which the Sod Poodles began trailing 7-1.

High-A Hillsboro

Yilber Diaz struck out six and walked two, but was done in by two solo home runs. The hard thrower allowed a run in each of his final three innings of the game, throwing 73 pitches to go five innings.

Wilderd Patiño reached base three times, with a single and a pair of walks. He scored a run in the ninth inning. He's done a great job of drawing walks out of the leadoff spot this inning, with 14 already on the season, giving him opportunities to steal more bases. His 11 stolen bases ranks second in the Northwest League.
