Dodgers News: Former Fan Favorite Breaks Down What Makes LA So Good Year in and Year Out

The Dodgers are playing some of their best ball this month.

The energy seems high in Los Angeles.

The Dodgers have played a game every day in August. They've only lost once.

On the pitching side, Julio Urias is finally returning to the 2022 version of himself that looked like a Cy Young candidate. Recently-acquired Lance Lynn is showing that he can win ballgames for this club. Clayton Kershaw is off of the injured list and has already shown that he hasn't missed a beat.

On offense, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman are continuing to look like two of the best hitters in baseball while James Outman is holding his own as a rookie.

Former Dodgers pitcher Rich Hill, who was traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates to the San Diego Padres at the deadline, praised the Dodgers for their efficient utilization of players, from the bottom to the top of their organization.

"It's just amazing what they do," Hill said. "They identify what guys do well, and have them do what they do best. They just have the ability of opening players' minds to a little bit of creativity. Sometimes we get shoe-boxed in certain ways of doing things whether a hitter or a pitcher, but they do a really good job identifying what guys can do to expand their weapons."

The Dodgers have solidified their lead in the NL West with an 8.5-game lead over the San Francisco Giants. While it has been a challenging season for LA at times, with injuries hitting their starting pitching rotation especially hard, Hill cited the leadership for uniting the Dodgers organization.

"Really, it starts with the top, and it's the culture," Hill said. "They create a culture for guys and identify stuff that other teams couldn't see in players. The culture is there. And it's real. It's not like 26 different islands, everybody is on the same one. It's pretty cool to see."

The Dodgers look to continue their success when they take on the Brewers at home on Tuesday at 7:10 p.m. PDT.
