Dodgers News: Gavin Lux Thanks 'Best Fanbase in the World' for Love and Support

When Dodgers shortstop Gavin Lux hit the dirt and clutched his knee in the top of the sixth inning of Monday's spring training game against the Padres in Peoria, every Los Angeles fan immediately feared the worst. The news this morning that Lux is out for the season with a torn ACL was terrible news for the team, but also for Lux himself. The 25-year-old was finally in line to be LA's starting shortstop after being blocked for four years by Corey Seager and Trea Turner.
Across social media, the outpouring of love and concern for Lux was overwhelming, and Lux told Doug McKain of Dodgers Nation on Tuesday morning that he felt it.
"Yeah, Dodgers fans, I felt pretty much all the love and support last night, this morning. Best fanbase in the world so I can't thank them enough for all the love and support and I really appreciate it."
Lux talked to the media about how he's feeling this morning.
“It’s heartbreaking. You put in a lot of time and work and really enjoy the guys in the clubhouse, and the hardest part is just not being able to be on the field. ... I think everybody dreams of being the shortstop for the Los Angeles Dodgers.”
Lux's plans for the future are pretty simple at this point:
“Crush the rehab and go from there.”
Lux will miss all of the 2023 season, but with what Dave Roberts called an eight-month recovery time, he should be fully healed in time to have a regular offseason program and come back stronger and ready to play in 2024.
