Dodgers News: Bobby Miller Avoiding the Outside Noise as the Trade Deadline Nears

In this story:
As the year has gone on for the Los Angeles Dodgers, they have been forced to rely on multiple rookie pitchers due to injuries and inconsistency from other players. There have been moments of both good and bad from these rookies as they navigate the big leagues.
It’s been an adjustment for both parties as the LA pitching staff has been uncharacteristically poor as a whole this year. But it also has given the team a chance to see what some of these young arms have and whether or not they want to move forward with them as part of the organization.
One rookie in particular has stood out and made his claim. That would be Bobby Miller, who started his Dodgers career out in possibly the best way he could. He was virtually unhittable for the first few starts of his career but lately he has come back down to earth.
As the trade deadline approaches, Miller is trying to not let all the different rumors get in the way of him going out onto the mound and performing at a high level.
“I don’t really listen to what outside people have to say,” Miller said. “Each year I’ve been paying less attention to that. Turning off notifications on social media. Stay off it more than normal. Just use it for the right reasons."
Per The OC Register
Miller is unlikely to be moved or dropped from the starting rotation, especially given the need for pitching that the Dodgers have. But that doesn't mean that it isn't difficult.
He doesn't have full clarity on what his role will be post trade deadline because nobody knows what moves LA will make. Miller understands this is a business and all he can do is prove his worth every time he takes the mound for the team.
“Everyone is always going to have something to say. But whatever we do here, whatever the coaches and staff decide to do, I’m with it 100 percent. We’ve got the right group of pitchers here and we’ve got the right staff. I’ve got all my trust in the staff here.”
On the year, Miller holds an ERA of 4.25 over nine games pitched. He does have a 5-1 record in those games and has struck out 47 batters in 48.2 innings. LA holds him in high regard and will likely continue to use him down the stretch of the season if he continues to perform well
