The Dodgers shortstop position can't catch a break. First, it was Gavin Lux, who tore his ACL early in spring training. Then, Miguel Rojas got banged up last week, and ultimately ended up on the 10-day IL as of Wednesday. And now, the Dodgers don't know when Chris Taylor will return, as he was removed from Monday's loss to the Mets.

Taylor left the game with some pain in his side, although the team didn't want to call it an oblique. However, Taylor said he wanted to be extra cautious with the injury, which is why he decided to take himself out of the game.

It's now Thursday, and Taylor still hasn't made a return to the Dodgers lineup. And after Wednesday's game, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts finally provided an update on when CT could potentially return to action.

“Depending on where CT is at in a couple days, I don’t see him playing short for the next two days, we’ll see on the third day," Roberts said. "Whether we can get him back playing on Friday remains to be seen, but I think that tomorrow we’ll give him that extra day to kind of go through the whole routine and throw, there’s still a little bit of soreness with the throwing, too."

Roberts doesn't sound too optimistic that Taylor will be back before the weekend, but it does sound possible he returns to the lineup on Saturday or Sunday, right before the Monday day off.

With Rojas on the IL, the Dodgers are very thin at the shortstop position. If Taylor isn't able to go, Roberts said it'll likely be Luke Williams as the starting shortstop, unless he decides to throw Mookie Betts there, something he hinted at doing on Tuesday.

Either way, it sounds unlikely Taylor heads to the injured list, which is good news for the Dodgers and their depth at the shortstop position.
