Dodgers Notes: Treinen Update, Martinez Timeline, Rosario Returns to Cleveland

In this story:
The Dodgers dropped a tough one late on Tuesday, losing to the Guardians and old friend Noah Syndergaard by a final of 8-3. Take away the final three innings and the game was mostly a success for LA. Rookie Bobby Miller was superb over the first 6 innings, striking out 5 while allowing just 2 runs on a mistake hanging slider.
They get back at it this afternoon with Clayton Kershaw on the mound.
In other Dodgers news, Blake Treinen made his first minor league rehab appearance on Tuesday night, tossing a scoreless frame with two strikeouts. According to Arizona-based photographer Jerry Espinoza, he touched 94 mph on his cutter.
The Dodgers finally stopped kicking the can down the road and placed DH J.D. Martinez on the IL with a groin issue. Dave Roberts offered up a return timeline that will keep the slugger sidelined well into September.
Also, Amed Rosario returned to Cleveland for the first time since being traded to LA last month and told SportsNet LA's Kirsten Watson that while he was grateful for his time with the Guardians, he really loves being with the Dodgers.
“It’s really exciting. I feel really good about being here. Obviously, I’m very grateful for the Cleveland organization and everything they did for me. But I’m also grateful for the Los Angeles Dodgers trading for me. It’s just really exciting to be back.”
