Dodgers Rumors: Writer Thinks LA Should Package Top Prospects for Former Cy Young Pitcher

In this story:
The calendar's now flipped to July, the 2023 All-Star Game rosters have been announced, and holes that teams around MLB need to fill are becoming more clear by the day as we're past the halfway point of the season.
The Los Angeles Dodgers aren't immune to the need to make a move, as their starting pitching depth has taken hits and the shortstop position isn't solidified.
As for what Andrew Friedman and LA could do, Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report sees them picking up two significant pieces at the deadline that would go a long way toward patching both of those holes.

From the Dodgers' point of view, this move certainly would make sense.
LA's rotation has been ravaged by injuries this season, as Julio Urias and most recently Clayton Kershaw have dealt with time on the injured list in 2023.
Beyond that, righty Dustin May is due to have season-ending elbow surgery later this month in what's a significant setback in his attempt to potentially return to the active roster late in the season.
So, an addition like former Cy Young winner Shane Bieber could make a lot of sense.
As far as what Bieber could provide to the Dodgers, he's definitely been an innings eater for the Cleveland Guardians this year, well on pace to another 200-inning season.
He's also been a quality arm aside from that, pitching to the tune of a 3.66 ERA as of this writing.
As for Amed Rosario, the blazing fast shortstop would provide an offensive lift at the position given Miguel Rojas' struggles this season.
It's been the opposite for Rosario, as he's slashing .266/.311/.364 this year, and that would definitely be an upgrade for LA at the premium position.
He'd also provide consistent defense and a bolt of speed to the Dodger lineup with his AL-leading five triples.
According to Rymer, the Dodgers would only have to part with scarcely-played IF/OF Michael Busch, Josue De Paula, and Rayne Doncon, prospects currently playing with Low-A affiliate Rancho Cucamonga and who rank as the No. 11 and No. 14 prospects in the organization, respectively.
That's a deal that LA should definitely ponder pulling the trigger on, but with Cleveland only one game out of first place in a weak AL Central, it may be difficult to pull off.
We'll see what happens though, and the Dodgers' front office has pulled off great trades before, so never say never when it comes to a momentous upgrade for LA.
