The SF Giants are bringing an Espresso Martini to Oracle Park

The SF Giants are giving bars in the Marina some competition, adding a few new drinks to the menu, including an Espresso Martini.

Look out Balboa Cafe; the SF Giants' latest acquisition brings some serious competition. In what many Oracle Park goers might consider a bigger announcement than any of the Giants' off-season signings, the venue's drink menu will now include Espresso Martinis.

Earlier this winter, the Giants announced they'd also lower beer prices from $14 to $9 in a surprising concession to fans who like to enjoy a beverage at the ballpark. The Espresso Martini, along with Jose Cuervo Margaritas On Tap and Juneshine Hard Kombucha are more nods to what seems to be the organization's attempt to make Oracle Park a viable night out destination for young San Franciscans. It'll also potentially sweeten the experience for fans making the long trek from other parts of California.

The Giants join several organizations across MLB in expanding their ballpark menu beyond "typical" beer and burger fare. Across the league, teams have begun to add items from local chefs, choices from famous restaurants and chains, and novelty drinks. Down the road at the Chase Center, where the Warriors play, the options are also more than plentiful; the venue offers over 30 restaurants and bars to choose from.

In 2022, average attendance was at 30,650. Excluding 2021, coming off of the shortened COVID season, attendance hasn't been that low since 1999. As the Giants attempt to combat waning ticket sales, they seem to be bringing any and all ideas to the table. In past years, they've added more bars, arcade games, even a vegetable garden. What could be next?

But for the purists who head to the park solely for the action on the field, has the experience improved? Many die-hard fans would argue they'd rather have seen the SF Giants sign Aaron Judge than a caffeinated cocktail.
